Domaine Rene Cacheux et Fils Vosne-Romanee 2020 750ml
Winemaker
The adventure of this small family winegrowing holding nestled in the village of Vosne-Romanee, rich in know-how for 4 generations, begins with the arrival of Francois BLEE at Vosne-Romanee at the beginning of the last century.
It continues with his son Charles who, while assuring his position as manager of wine estates to Romanee Saint Vivant, succeeds his father and increases the area of the estate with his wife Helene.
In 1966, the exploitation is divided between the 2 daughters of Charles and Helene. The youngest, Jacqueline, create the Rene CACHEUX-BLEE vineyard with her husband Rene CACHEUX.
Their son Gerald, after an 18-year experience in various wine-producing farms in the region, took over from his parents in 2004. He now heads the Rene CACHEUX & Son vineyard.
To preserve the unique and ancestral terroir, we practice integrated vineyard management methods.
The vines are pruned respecting the plant in order to master the yields for each bunch of grapes is properly exposed and nourished.
The bunch of grapes area is stripped favoring natural ventilation to not use chemicals against rotting grapes. We are ensuring a better fruit maturity, without residual in the harvest.
For over 15 years, we fight to the cluster worm by mating disruption, without insecticide to promote the existence of predatory insects that fight against harmful mites. No acaricides is used. We control a light grassing by tillage without herbicide. The balance of the flora and the fauna is then respected.
The harvest is manual, sorting is immediate, directly on the vine, the destemming is total before putting in open tanks.
The wines are vinified in a traditional way with temperature control. They are then aged in oak barrels for a period of 18 months with a percentage of new barrels which may vary, following appellations and the vintage, between 10% and 50%.
