So seductively fragrant and just packed with pepper and baking spices, across graphite, dark stones and blackberries. Big impact and very fresh. The palate has a very concentrated, agile and energetic feel with fine-grained tannins carrying fresh red-plum and blackberry flavors. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Produced from the gravelly soils of the Gimblett Gravels, this distinct Syrah shows an aromatic lift of floral and pepper aromatics with lushness and elegance on the palate.
The vines originate from a Heritage clone of Syrah brought to New Zealand around 150 years ago.
Gimblett Gravels is a designation encompassing a centuries old dried river bed in Hawke's Bay that is believed to be the first in the New World where the ultimate boundary is defined by a distinct soil type. The vines are planted in the stoniest parts of the vineyard to a heritage clone of Syrah brought to New Zealand in the 1840s.
