Chateau Batailley Pauillac 1998 750ml
The Wine Advocate | RP 87
Published: Apr 23, 2001
An excellent dark plum color is followed by scents of tobacco, cedar, black currants, and earth. There is good ripeness, medium to full body, smoky, herb-tinged flavors, and fine length. The tannin is firm, but not excessive. This 1998 is tasting significantly better from bottle than it did during its elevage. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2017.
Drink Date 2004 - 2017

The 1st wine of the Chateau, designation of origin Pauillac, 5th Grand Cru Classe since 1855, is typical of Pauillac.?With a beautiful dark ruby color, its nose reveals an elegant, rich and intense bouquet with aromas of black fruits and red fruits.
On the palate, it is well structured, balanced, with pronounced notes of blackcurrant and spices.?It also offers a beautiful and long finish.
Considered a great wine for laying down, it ages extremely well and can be kept for many years before being tasted.
