Bouchard Pere & Fils Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 2006 750ml

A machine oil-like sweet smokiness and not doubt borderline reductive aroma to Bouchard's 2006 Chapelle-Chambertin is complimented by a dense, nutty, smoky, sappily black fruited palate, underlain by a combination of tannic and mineral suggestions that put me in mind of iron filings. I'd like to see more primary juiciness to the finish here, but this is amply ripe and structured as well as reductively tight, and I expect it will perform well for 4-6 years.

This is one of the legendary Grands Crus in Gevrey-Chambertin. The appellation dates back to 1155, when the monks from the Abbey of Beze built a chapel on a piece of land next to the famous Clos-de-Beze, the gem of their estate. It shares the strength and depth of the wines of the Chambertin family and has exceptional finesse.
Tasting Note - Intense and deep bouquet (flavours of fruits, spices and light oak). Perfect marriage of grace and liveliness, of finesse and silkiness. A wine of remarkable generosity and potential.
Food/wine pairing - Game, venison, full-flavoured cheese.
Serving Temprarature - Between 17C to 18C
Ageing Potenial - 10 years and more
