This is a wine I always love, thanks to its distinctive grace and floral notes of wild rose and lilac. The M. Marengo 2019 Barolo Bricco delle Viole shows more heft and concentration in this growing season, and it's visible in its darker color. The bouquet is also compact and more robust at the same time with cassis, light spice and candied orange peel. Mineral dustings make for an elegant end note, and the tannins show the firmness of youth. Production is 6,000 bottles.

Marco Marengo and his family have recently added to their holdings in the famed Valmaggiore vineyard, with steep flanks and sandy soils, in the Roero winemaking district. Drink Date: 2025 - 2045
