This 2019 Ares Shiraz is firm and savory and shaped by a pliable rachis of tannin and spice. The fruit strays across blood plums, mulberries, damsons and licorice and leaves a trail of star anise and aniseed its wake. The tannins are very prominent and have a traditional feel, Decant it.

A very dense and rich red with a full body, compacted velvet texture and a fresh finish. Loads of blackberries and dark chocolate flavors. It will be better in five or six years but some will appreciate its old school attraction. Big nature to this. Drink or hold.

Aroma
Deep set with notes of macerating black berries, white flower, Chinese five spice, flesh vanilla pod, black peppercorn and coal dust
Palate
Medium to full-bodied, this wine explodes on the palate with saturated blackberry & black cherry. Concentrated & mouth-coating, flavours roll & crash through every corner of the palate. Complexing notes of lavender, pipe smoke, vanilla pod, & short crust pastry add depth and complexity. Tannins are folded through the fruit & provide regal structure whilst the acidity provides freshness & pop. Incredibly long through the late palate with supporting notes of 90% dark chocolate & fresh black pepper
