Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Pauillac 2017 750ml

The 2017 Pichon Comtesse de Lalande is a wine that reveals its complexity with time. Initially closed, it gradually opens up to reveal floral notes of lilacs and lavender, layered with black raspberries, warm blackberries, forest floor, and subtle hints of star anise and stewed black tea. On the palate, this wine is medium-bodied, showing remarkable energy and tension. The tannins are soft and beautifully integrated, while the flavors of black fruit and floral nuances linger, finishing with a refined and lasting whisper. A sophisticated, graceful Pauillac that is approachable now but will continue to evolve in the cellar.

A tight, compact young Bordeaux with medium body, polished and round tannins and a medium finish. Not a big wine, but some very classy currant and raspberry character and just a hint of lead pencil and polished structure. Drink after 2022.

Smooth textured with fine-grained tannins, ripe cassis, silky red berry and cherry fruit and creamy oak. This is charming and quite forward, with graphite, toast, chocolate and inky unfolding layers. Elegant, tending towards mid-weight, it is a seductive Pauillac; lithe yet with backbone.

70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot. Aged for 18 months in oak (60% new).
Deep, blackish garnet. Quite intriguing minerally nose. Neat, well-balanced, confident, quite dry wine. Fine tannins much in evidence. Light char with some sweetness. Relatively light-bodied. Quite subtle and fresh. Improved in the glass. Subtle and saline. Is this the Léoville Barton?

Each tune chosen forges close ties with wine and history, our history, that of Pichon Comtesse. Where were we? What did we feel? Which path did we take? And what about you? What will you feel? That’s how wine is set to music… » Nicolas Glumineau
