The 1998 Château Lagrange offers a dark ruby color with spicy oak aromas, medium body, and surprising softness. Its tannins have softened over time, making it more approachable. The wine is rich and glossy with a polished, sweet profile. Well-balanced and harmonious, it shows good aging potential and elegance.

This dark ruby-colored, elegant, attractive effort offers spicy new oak, medium body, excellent concentration as well as depth, surprising softness, and early appeal. As with many Medocs, Lagrange's tannins have become much friendlier after bottling. Anticipated maturity: Now-2015. Last tasted, 3/02.

Deep crimson. Very rich and glossy yet with lovely straight-backed gloss. Just a tiny bit severe but lovely gloss and purity. Lots of drive and focus. Sweet and polished.

A perfectly balanced Third Grand Cru Classé in 1855, the Grand Vin de Château Lagrange reflects the ultimate harmony of the estate's three grape varieties, with a strong predominance of Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and Petit Verdot. Sourced from the estate's oldest vines and aged for 21 months in half-new barrels, it displays the concentration and aging potential of a great wine. Already powerful and vibrant in its youth, its slow and serene evolution gives it a delicacy that is expressed in the precision of its notes.
