Chateau Lagrange St-Julien 1997 750ml

The 1997 Château Lagrange offers a herbaceous nose with notes of sous-bois, cedar, and a hint of dried blood. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with gritty tannins and a refreshing balance despite a touch of greenness. The finish is a bit abrupt, signaling it’s best consumed now. It's a balanced wine with good aging potential, showcasing the estate’s Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot.

Tasted blind at the chateau, the Lagrange 1997 has a herbaceous nose that is open-knit. Sous-bois, cedar and a touch of dried blood/iron. The palate is medium-bodied with gritty tannins on the entry. Whilst there is a touch of greenness, it is still balanced and refreshing in the mouth. Yet it is a little brusque on the finish, as if to say: that’s your lot. Drink now. Tasted March 2011.

A perfectly balanced Third Grand Cru Classé in 1855, the Grand Vin de Château Lagrange reflects the ultimate harmony of the estate's three grape varieties, with a strong predominance of Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and Petit Verdot. Sourced from the estate's oldest vines and aged for 21 months in half-new barrels, it displays the concentration and aging potential of a great wine. Already powerful and vibrant in its youth, its slow and serene evolution gives it a delicacy that is expressed in the precision of its notes.
