Chateau Fombrauge St-Emilion 2014 1500ml

2014 Château Fombrauge is a plush and polished Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, made from 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. It delivers rich, ripe fruit with soft tannins and a velvety texture. While powerful and weighty on the palate, good acidity provides balance. Aromas of dark berries and floral notes lead to a smooth, mint-tinged finish. Elegant and accessible, with broad appeal and aging potential through 2032.

Outstanding depth of fruit and richness with soft and silky tannins and a long finish. Really deep and excellent.

Drink: 2019-2032
The Château Fombrauge 2014, a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc picked between 2 and 20 October, has a rich and rather alcoholic bouquet that feels smudged compared to its peers. The palate is sweet and chewy on the entry, powerful and burly with immense weight on the middle and finish. It is redeemed by a decent line of acidity that prevents any cloyingness on the finish, but I would like to see more character and personality in this Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé. Tasted three times with consistent notes.

Tasted blind. Very dark crimson. Very polished nose. Sweet start and then lots of structure. Lots of appeal. Smooth and a little bit minty. Populist appeal. Velvety.

TASTING NOTES:
Appearance: The color is dark, limpid and intense, with a very beautiful color.
The nose: The nose is flattering undulating around a fruity and floral framework. We particularly perceive notes of red fruits such as black cherries, walls and elderberry in this Château Fombrauge Rouge 2018.
Mouth: In the mouth, the wine is immediately deliciously perfumed. The taste is very fruity and the texture is soft. Gradually, the aromas develop for an increasingly intense and deep tasting.
