Chateau Boyd Cantenac Margaux 2010 750ml

2010 Château Boyd-Cantenac is a classic Margaux from a benchmark vintage, showcasing both structure and elegance. With aromas of minerals, currants, and cedar, the wine delivers juicy fruit, cassis, and herbal complexity on the palate. The blend of ripe Merlot and slow-maturing Cabernet Sauvignon creates a wine of refined tannins, freshness, and depth. Though still showing grip and youthful structure, it’s balanced and has plenty of life ahead—best enjoyed from 2023 onwards. A standout vintage for Boyd-Cantenac, marrying power with purity.

Aromas of minerals, currants and berries follow through to a full body, with juicy fruit and a long finish. Lovely depth of fruit and mouthfeel to this. Top Boyd for a long time. Better in 2017.

Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Boyd-Cantenac features pronounced notions of black cherries, stewed plums and creme de cassis with hints of sauteed herbs and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is just a little lean in the middle with a chewy texture and stewed tea finish.

2010, following 2009 and like 2005, saw a hot and dry summer and autumn. These circumstances made it possible for us to wait patiently until the grapes reached their optimal maturity. The harvested spread from October 4th to 28th.
Overall, the wines retain exceptional freshness and burst with fruit. They are rich, aromatic, dark, and highly concentrated with lovely tannins, clean and pure.
The Merlots are rich, intense and luxuriant. The Cabernets, being the last in Margaux to be harvested, benefited from their long period of maturation and are without question truly extraordinary. The resulting wines have remarkable structure and balance with a degree of alcohol on a par with 2009 and with slightly higher acidity. They have an intensity, a freshness and an elegance at a level equal to, if not surpassing, that of the 2009 vintage.
