Fairly light color. Rich, modern, oak influenced nose also offers some exotic, smoky Burgundian funk to balance against lovely ripe black cherry fruit, licorice, and spice. Just as wonderful on the palate; a youthful, chewy, lively wine with excellent acidity. This wine is big and weighty but maintains a sense of balance. The finish is extremely long and consistent, with a nice tingling tartness at the end. Everybody loved lucky #13!

Spice and mocha, sweet toasty oak (60-80% new) over dark peppery fruit. Fine balance between density and freshness. Supple and spicy. Tannins add freshness too. Lingers. (JH) Drink Date: 2013 - 2017
