Fascinating aromas of hot stones, lemon rind, green pears and green mangoes. Full body and dried citrus and apple flavors. Tight and focused with a savory finish. Very serious white. Drink now or hold.

The 2015 Chateau Olivier Blanc has a lively citrus and lime flower scented bouquet, with pear and almost granitic notes surfacing with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity - green apple, gooseberry and a twist of sour lemon towards the finish. There is something almost Loire-like here, perhaps a little Sancerre-like in style, but irrespective of stylistic semblances, the bottom line is that this constitutes a very fine white Bordeaux that will be delicious from the word go.

There's a touch (2%) of Muscadelle in this 2015 vintage wine, which definitely has a broader, riper and more concentrated feel than the other two vintages of Olivier blanc on show in the Cellar Collection room (2018 and 2010). You find the same lively grapefruit citrus acidity, but also a hint of candied peel, some quince and white flowers, and an almost exotic quality. Rounded, rich and leesy, almost exotic.

Tasted blind. Neat and sweet. Refreshing but not top-drawer. Fairly short term.

TASTING NOTE
The Sémillons are very aromatic, with hints of almond and quince aromas. The Sauvignons are perfectly ripe and even round this year. It is the blend of the two grape varieties that gives the wine its breadth: very aromatic, vibrant with a nice structure (acidity), and long finish.
