Chateau Lagrange St-Julien 2010 750ml

The 2010 Château Lagrange presents a deep garnet color and aromas of baked blackcurrants, stewed plums, and hints of fried herbs, crushed rocks, and balsamic. Full-bodied with a firm line of grainy tannins, it is defined by fantastic freshness that enhances the black fruit and earthy flavors. The wine has a powerful structure, smooth texture, and exceptional tannic richness. Despite its youth, it shows great balance between fruit and structure, promising further evolution.

Flowers, leather, sweet spice and vanilla. Lively and focused, detailed and nuanced – in high definition. Gorgeous blackcurrant and black cherry elements. Fruity, but the balance is equally split between freshness and fun, and complexity and seriousness. Not the most demonstrative, but for purity, tension, terroir signature and drinkability this is excellent. Very enjoyable.

Loads of tension and form. It can be cellared for decades, but it’s balanced and beautiful already. Lots of blueberry, licorice and blackberry character. Try in 2018.

Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Lagrange gives up notes of baked blackcurrants, stewed plums and fried herbs with nuances of crushed rocks and balsamic plus a touch of fungi. Full-bodied, the palate has a firm line of grainy tannins and fantastic freshness helping to define the black fruit and earthy flavors, finishing a little lifted.

Tasted blind. Deep garnet but youthful. Dusty and rather dry on the palate and hard to predict the future here. I think it will come round because the fruit and the structure are in balance.

THE VINTAGE
An unusual combination of dryness and cold. An outstanding sunshine from May to the end of October. The growth cycle slows down over the last weeks due to the drought which leads us to a late picking. A vintage marked by an outstanding concentration of tannins of extreme fineness.
TASTING NOTES
Deep and intense colour. On the nose a sensation of freshness, with red and black fruit aromas, as well as toasted and vanilla notes. The attack is very firm, the mouthfeel gains strength with an exceptional tannic richness. Powerful, smooth and harmonious tannins.
