Chateau Labegorce Margaux 2019 750ml

The 2019 Labégorce from Margaux showcases a fine balance of rich berry aromas, including blackberries, blueberries, and plums, with additional layers of espresso, orange chocolate, and earthy notes. Medium-bodied and creamy with ripe fruit and chocolate flavors, it’s complemented by walnut and earth nuances on the finish. The wine is lively, with fine tannins and solid depth, and shows promise for aging, becoming more complex over time. Best enjoyed from 2024 onwards, with good aging potential through 2040.

The largest of the Perrodo estates in Margaux, this is a little heavier set and muscular than the Marquis d'Alesme, extremely accomplished and majoring on coffee beans and tobacco alongside blackcurrant fruits. Enjoyable, a little less signature Margaux that its sibling property but this is a delicious gourmet-edged wine, and a brilliant (relatively) value choice in the appellation.

The 2019 Labégorce has turned out nicely, offering up aromas of smoky berry fruit, cassis, incense and subtle hints of loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and lively, with good depth and ripe, gently chewy tannins, this is a fine effort.

Tasted blind. Very concentrated colour. Very evolved nose. Sweet and ‘pleasant’. Deceptively simple, but not forced, and it does express Margaux. Quite long. Should gain complexity in bottle.
