Mouton Cadet Reserve Pauillac 2018 750ml
Winemaker
The elegant Mouton Cadet Reserve Pauillac from Baron Philippe de Rothschild shimmers a bright purple red in the glass. If you give it a little air in the glass by swirling it, you can perceive a perfect balance in this red wine, as it is neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the walls of the glass. In the glass, this red wine from Baron Philippe de Rothschild presents aromas of morello cherries, plums, damsons and black cherries, complemented by other fruity nuances. On the palate, the Mouton Cadet Reserve Pauillac from Baron Philippe de Rothschild opens wonderfully dry, grippy and aromatic. There is dry and really dry. This red wine belongs to the latter group, as it was bottled with just 2 g of residual sugar. Thanks to its vital fruit acidity, the Mouton Cadet Reserve Pauillac is impressively fresh and lively on the palate. The finish of this youthful red wine from the Bordeaux wine-growing region, or more precisely from Pauillac, ultimately delights with a remarkable aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral facets from the marl and limestone-dominated soils.
Vinification of the Baron Philippe de Rothschild Mouton Cadet Reserve Pauillac
The basis for the balanced Mouton Cadet Reserve Pauillac from Bordeaux are grapes from the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Bordeaux. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of sand, limestone, gravel and marl. Naturally, the Mouton Cadet Reserve Pauillac is also determined by the climate and wine-growing style of Pauillac. This French wine can literally be described as a wine of the Old World, which presents itself in an extraordinarily impressive way. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks and small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.
